Retirement Visa Thailand
The visa type is known as a Non-OA visa. (NON – IMMIGRANT VISA “O-A”). This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working. Holder of this type of visa is allowed to stay in Thailand for 1 year. Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited.
The Retirement Visa Thailand includes these benefits :
- Up to at least 1 year of uninterrupted stay in Thailand
- Allows you to acquire a re-entry permit to enter and exit the country
- The visa is renewable on an annual basis
- You can renew your visa in Thailand without having to leave the country
Who is Eligible?
- Applicant must be 50 years old and above.
- Applicant not prohibited from entering the Kingdom as provided by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979).
- Having no criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality or residence.
- Having the nationality of or permanent residence in the country where application is submitted.
- Not having prohibitive diseases ( Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535.
Retirement visa Thailand requirements :
- Must be at least 50 years old
- Passport with validity of at least 6 months remaining before expiration
- Must provide proof of residence in Thailand by presenting a 6-month lease or more (you can prove this by showing your rental contract and recent bills)
- Must be able to meet ONE of these financial requirements:
- Have 800,000 Baht in a Thai Bank account in Hua Hin in your personal name for 2 months before applying for the visa.
- Monthly income of at least 65,000 THB.
- Combination of both a monthly income of 65,000 THB and a security deposit of 800,000 THB
Alternatives of Thailand Retirement Visa.
If you have a Thai spouse, you can also consider acquiring a Marriage Visa Thailand as an alternative to the retirement visa. It grants similar rights but has fewer requirements regarding finances.
